How Staking Rewards Work on Story
Story’s staking model is designed to incentivize long-term commitment from users. The network utilizes a time-weighted staking mechanism, where the longer you stake, the greater the rewards. Here's how it works:
Flexible Staking offers a 1x boost on staking rewards.
90-day staking gives a 1.1x reward boost.
360-day staking provides a 1.5x reward boost.
540-day staking offers the highest reward boost at 2x.
Locked tokens incur a 0.5x penalty, and rewards are locked for a minimum of six months.
These reward multipliers are designed to promote long-term participation, which helps maintain the security and stability of the Story network.
Who Can Stake on Story?
Staking on Story is accessible to a wide range of participants. Here’s how you can get involved:
Validators: To become a validator, you need a minimum of 1,024 $IP tokens. Validators are responsible for helping secure the network and participate in the governance of the Story blockchain.
Delegators: Anyone can delegate their tokens to validators to earn rewards. You don’t need to run your own validator node to participate.
Validators are ranked based on the amount of $IP staked, with the top 64 forming the active set. This decentralized approach ensures network security and provides ample opportunities for the community to contribute.
If you don’t meet the token minimum for creating a validator, you can still participate through third-party liquid staking providers, but it's important to do your own research (DYOR) before engaging with them.
