Namada, a Layer 1 blockchain focused on privacy, is preparing to launch its mainnet with a phased rollout. Rather than activating all features at once, Namada’s approach aims to introduce protocol functionalities step-by-step.

A 5-Phased Launch
Namada’s mainnet launch is designed to unfold over five distinct phases. Each phase adds functionality incrementally, allowing the network to grow securely and adapt to governance input. Here's what the phases will look like:
Phase 1: Block Party
The first phase, called "Block Party," sets the foundation for Namada’s network:
Proof-of-Stake enabled: Validators and delegators can begin staking $NAM to secure the network.
Governance activation: The community gains the ability to vote on key decisions, including transitions between phases.
Access to Genesis $NAM balances: Users can claim their allocated $NAM tokens and start staking them with validators. And of course, we invite you to stake your NAM with Stakecito!
Phase 2: Staking Party
In Phase 2, Namada introduces economic incentives to encourage participation:
Staking Rewards go live: Validators and delegators are rewarded for helping secure the network.
Public Goods Funding (PGF) launches: A portion of $NAM inflation is allocated to projects that benefit the Namada ecosystem, as determined by governance.
Phase 3: Shielding Party
Privacy becomes the central focus in Phase 3, with Namada’s signature privacy features activated:
IBC transfers enabled: Interchain transfers of assets like ATOM and OSMO are introduced, connecting Namada to the broader IBC ecosystem.
Shielded transactions activated: Users can shield governance-enabled assets, adding privacy to transactions.
This phase begins to address privacy fragmentation by extending protections to interchain interactions.
Phase 4: Shielding Rewards Party
Phase 4 introduces rewards for privacy-preserving behavior:
Shielding rewards begin: Users who shield assets in Namada’s Multi-Asset Shielded Pool (MASP) start earning rewards.
Privacy set expands: As more assets are shielded, Namada’s privacy protections become more robust.
By incentivizing users to shield assets, Namada strengthens its privacy infrastructure while encouraging active participation.
Phase 5: NAM Party
The final phase, "NAM Party," marks the full activation of Namada’s mainnet:
$NAM transfers enabled: Users can now freely transfer $NAM tokens, unlocking the network’s complete functionality.
Full protocol live: All staking, governance, shielding, and reward features are operational.
This phase marks the completion of Namada’s rollout, transitioning it into a fully functioning blockchain.
Governance at the Core
One of the defining features of Namada’s rollout is its reliance on governance. Each phase requires approval from the community through on-chain voting, ensuring that key decisions are decentralized and transparent.
Privacy at Scale
At the heart of Namada’s design is the Multi-Asset Shielded Pool (MASP), which allows multiple asset types—fungible tokens, NFTs, and interchain assets—to exist within a unified privacy set. By consolidating these assets, Namada aims to reduce privacy fragmentation, making it harder for observers to trace individual transactions.
Shielding rewards, introduced in Phase 4, incentivize users to add their assets to the pool, increasing the privacy guarantees of the protocol.
