IBC Eureka, the latest upgrade to the Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) protocol, is officially live. Developed as a fully integrated interoperability layer, Eureka enables fast, affordable, and secure asset transfers between Cosmos and Ethereum ecosystems—using only one click.
This release introduces the first IBC connection between Ethereum and Cosmos, and positions the Cosmos Hub as a routing and coordination layer for multichain applications. In doing so, it significantly reduces the infrastructure burden for builders while opening access to Ethereum liquidity for Cosmos appchains.
New Capabilities: 1-Click Transfers, Lower Fees, and Multichain UX
With IBC Eureka, users can now transfer assets like BTC liquid staking tokens, WETH, and stablecoins across chains at low cost—often for as little as $1 in fees. The protocol leverages Cosmos Hub routing and Skip’s API infrastructure to simplify the user experience and reduce overhead for appchains. Every transaction routed through the Hub also burns ATOM, creating a direct value accrual mechanism.
Initial data shows more than $1 million in assets flowed through Eureka within the first nine hours of launch. To date, gas fees have already burned over $130,000 worth of ATOM.
Developer Integration and Early Adoption
Eureka’s launch is backed by over a dozen early adopters including Babylon, Solv Protocol, Ether.fi, Tower, and Kinza Finance. Projects such as dYdX, Injective, MANTRA Chain, and ZkCloud are also set to integrate. These integrations aim to bring Ethereum-native assets and functionality into Cosmos-based applications and vice versa.
Developers benefit from IBC Eureka’s simplified connectivity. Rather than deploying to multiple chains, protocols can connect once to the Cosmos Hub and gain access to the broader IBC ecosystem. Two options are available for connectivity: routing through the Hub or using peer-to-peer direct paths supported by Eureka infrastructure.
What’s Next for IBC Eureka
The current implementation uses IBC v2 and supports ICS20 token transfers. Upcoming upgrades are expected to enable contract calls and extend compatibility to chains like Solana and Arbitrum. Plans are also in motion to introduce fee markets for light clients and relayers, further scaling the protocol’s capabilities.
The team behind Eureka, Interchain Labs, has signaled that a permissionless Cosmos Hub VM and the first DeFi app powered by Eureka are on the roadmap.
Accessing and Using Eureka
Users can explore IBC Eureka and test transfers now at go.cosmos.network. All Cosmos-based chains can permissionlessly connect to the Cosmos Hub, while Ethereum relaying is currently managed and expected to open to broader participation in future updates.
