2024: A Year of Growth for Bitcoin Staking
Bitcoin Staking Phase-1 and Participation Growth
Babylon’s Bitcoin staking protocol introduced a third use case for Bitcoin beyond store of value and medium of exchange, enabling BTC holders to stake natively and earn rewards. Participation grew significantly over three staking caps:
Cap-1 (Aug 22, 2024): 1,000 BTC staked, 12,720 stakers
Cap-2 (Oct 8, 2024): 22,891 BTC staked, 12,590 stakers
Cap-3 (Dec 10-17, 2024): 33,399 BTC staked, 109,980 stakers
Total BTC staked in Phase-1: 57,290 BTC from 135,290 participants
This rapid adoption highlighted strong demand for a trustless and non-custodial Bitcoin staking solution, with increasing participation from both retail and institutional users.
Ecosystem Expansion and Institutional Adoption
Babylon expanded its ecosystem with a broad range of integrations in 2024:
25 Bitcoin Secured Networks (BSNs) committed to integrating Babylon’s staking model, including projects like Corn and BOB.
250+ Finality Providers (FPs), including Stakecito, Galaxy Digital, and InfoStones, helped secure the network and ensure scalability.
12 major Web3 wallets, including OKX and Binance, integrated Babylon staking, making BTC staking accessible to a larger user base.
Institutional adoption grew, with custodians like Anchorage Digital and Hex Trust enabling large-scale BTC staking.
12 Liquid Staking Token (LST) protocols, such as Lombard Finance and pumpBTC, provided liquidity options for BTC stakers.
Platforms like Binance Earn began utilizing Babylon’s staking model, increasing reach and adoption.
Babylon on the Global Stage
Babylon strengthened its industry presence through major global events and new initiatives:
Hosted Bitcoin Renaissance conferences at ETH Denver and Korea Blockchain Week, bringing together developers and investors.
Participated in Consensus, Token2049, and Cosmoverse, expanding awareness of Bitcoin staking.

Looking Ahead to 2025
Phase-2: Babylon Chain Launch
The next phase of Babylon’s mainnet will see the launch of Babylon Chain, the first BSN to receive crypto-economic security from staked Bitcoin. Finality providers with BTC delegations from Phase-1 will help secure the network and determine block finality.
Phase-3: Multi-Staking and Expanded BSN Integration
Phase-3 will introduce multi-staking, enabling BTC holders to stake the same Bitcoin across multiple BSNs simultaneously. This expansion will allow participants to earn multiple staking rewards, further increasing the utility of staked Bitcoin.
